Do you read pet advice columns regularly? How helpful are they?

To be honest, I only occasionally read the "Dr. What's-His-Name" advice from the veterinarian column which runs in our local newspaper. Hey, given the abundance of Internet resources and easy online access in most parts of the U.S., perhaps it's a surprise that I even read a local newspaper -- do you?

Anyway, I was just curious, how many of you reading this blog regularly (thousands of you DO read this faithfully, don't you?) also look specifically to pet advice columns. For those of you who do, let me make an important suggestion: Make sure the advice you're getting about your pets in such columns is coming from someone who is truly qualified to speak on pet behavior and pet care.

I, for example, DO NOT consider myself qualified in any way to speak authoritatively about pet care and pet behavior. I am not nor have I ever claimed to be a veterinarian, any sort of pet doctor, or any sort of doctor at all. This blog is purely a share-and-share opportunity for me to yap on about my own pets and pet experiences -- and for you to leave comments about your pets and to straighten me out when you know I've got it wrong.

So, I really wanted to clarify that. I would feel terrible if you took some advice or anecdote I've told about my pets and my opinions, and found it faulty in the life of your pet.

I really appreciate all of you who hang out here from time to time. I welcome you to leave comments, questions, and concerns through our "Contact" page and most especially by commenting on the posts you read here.

Enjoy your day with your pets!
